Our song decision- The Killers

Through personal experience we know that The Killers aim their music towards a young target audience although they are loved by all. The band has sold over 6 million albums in the United States, over 5 million albums in the United Kingdom and over 15 million worldwide. We have looked at different festivals they have played at which are filled by an age range of 15 to 25.

V-Festival
Oxygen Festival
Glastonbury Festival
Benicassim Festival

The Killers have won four NME Awards: 2008 and 2009 and Best Video for "Bones" in 2006. They have also picked up two awards in the first NME Awards USA in 2008 for Best Band and Best Track for "Tranquilize". The Killers have also been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, but have yet to win. In 2006 the band won the BRIT Award for Best International Band and the album Sam's Town won Best International Album.

We plan to use the song ‘When you were young’ as the lyrics link closely to our narrative and as a group we feel the song will bring a lot of meaning to the short film.

The Killers

As we plan to use the song ‘when you were young’ by The Killers we need to contact them to get permission to use there song.

Before taking the short film further though we plan to try and contact The Killers as we need permission to use their song.

As students of The Henley College studying Media Studies at A-level we have been given a brief to produce a short film. As we are both very interested in music and I wish to use the killers song ‘when you were young’ as a backing track to our short film. The short film is for examination only and there is no commercial use involved in it. We would very much appreciate having permission to use the song as it would help us get the best possible grade we can. The short film we produce using this song is strictly being produced for assessment purposes only. It would be a huge help if you could contact us back  with permission to use the song.
